The Hills, “rock-ribbed and ancient as the Sun” have from the first formed a large and very respectable part of the citizens of Buxton.  In making this incomplete and, no doubt in many respects, inaccurate history of the Hill family, I am largely indebted to the records complied over many years by those before me...my father, grand-father and great-grand father.

Hill Letters

Prior to the Revolutionary War, several family members left Biddeford and Saco to settle in Buxton Maine.  This is one of two farm journals recorded in the late 1800's.
